Pine Tree State Doberman Pinscher Club - A specialty club serving Doberman fanciers in Maine and New Hampshire

The Pine Tree State Doberman Pinscher Club, Inc. is a chapter club of the Doberman Pinscher Club of America, and therefore, falls under that organization's 501 (c) (3) tax status for non-profit organizations. We are dedicated to preserving and enhancing  the well-being and capabilities  the Doberman Pinscher as well as educating the general public and strengthening the Doberman/owner relationship. Since our  inception in 2002 , the Pine Tree State Doberman Pinscher Club, among other activities,  has  hosted breed information days, worked closely with Doberman Rescue Unlimited in Sandown, NH, and have held three successful sanctioned “B” Specialty matches.  Our first sanctioned "A" match is tentatively scheduled for May 2008.

Our membership includes many long time participants in AKC conformation, obedience, rally, agility and tracking events as well as those for whom Dobermans are companions only. There are five members of our club who have direct experience as specialty and/or all-breed show secretaries. One is a trophy chair for 3 clubs – an all-breed, a tracking, and an obedience club. We have several who exhibit regularly at AKC shows and one who is a handler.  Most all our members are either directly or indirectly involved in breed rescue, as our Club considers that one of our missions.

In addition to those events mentioned above,  we can also add the the following to the Club's resume:
• Held obedience, handling, and CGC classesand evaluations for members and others;
• Held a CGC Test for a local 4-H club;
• Held a yard sale to raise funds and coupled that with a member “Fun Day” (tracking, agility, obedience, rally) ;
• Held a separate member “Fun Day” ;
• Planned and participated in a “Meet the Breeds” night with an all-breed club ;
• Held a “Breed Information Day” at several "Pet Expos";
• One member has judged at two sanctioned all-breed matches;
• Held a club program on stewarding presented by a Chief Steward for two clubs and a couple of our members have stewarded for all breed clubs;
• Held a program on canine first aid given by a veterinarian;
Held a club program on canine massage therapy;
• And at least three members participate in therapy visits to nursing homes

We are active in fighting breed-restrictive legislation in our State.
We offer a breeder referral service which tries to educate prospective purchasers to obtain their Doberman from reputable, established breeders and not to buy from commercial breeders, pet stores who sell puppies and kittens, or from so-called "puppy mills."

The Pine Tree State Doberman Pinscher Club holds regular monthly meetings and several social events, many including dogs,  throughout the year. If you are interested in attending our meetings, please contact us for times and directions. missique@gwi.net
